Join me in my campaign to build a stronger Virginia Beach for everyone.
I’ve been teaching in the community college classroom for almost ten years now. In that time, I have interacted with some wonderful members of our community. My students represent some of the best in us – the veteran looking to transition back into civilian life, the parents who raised their kids and now have the time to finish a degree, the recent high school graduate, and the adults who are juggling work and school as they strive to build a better life for themselves and their families.
In the past few years, I’ve felt motivated to do more than help the students I come across in class. I’ve felt the nudge to take my passion for service and education into the community.
I want to do good in my neighborhood.
I want to better my community.
Our neighbors deserve a voice in their local government. There is no level of government that touches our lives more daily than city government.
This new district system presents such a unique opportunity for our city. It presents a true opportunity for local representation, where neighbors can truly represent neighbors.
The job of a council person is so much more than casting votes. It’s about being present in your community, keeping them informed and keeping them engaged on what’s happening in City Hall. It’s about listening to the needs and interests of the community, and speaking to those issues. This is what I’m all about.
I am running for Virginia Beach City Council District 10, so that I can be in a position to not only teach students about our community, but to also make decisions that represent the interests and needs of my neighbors. I want to engage my neighbors, get to know their challenges and their successes, so that I can give voice to them in their local government.
I hope I can earn your vote to represent the 10th District on Virginia Beach City Council in the November election.
Yours,
Jennifer Rouse
